A guest post from my friend Danny Evans on this Father’s Day weekend. We hope to share more of Danny’s poetry in the future at Daily Illumination. Read more about his unique spoken word ministry here.
Every young man asks will I be good
at that thing known as fatherhood?
They have to want to protect
and make a lasting effect.
It’s more than raising someone frail
but blazing for them a trail.
When they are in search,
it’s about raising them in the church.
Their children and wife
come first in their life.
That’s how a godly father rolls,
especially one who cares about his kids’ souls.
I challenge all current and future fathers to step up,
take this holy cup,
and break the chains of the past,
for you are your children’s first impression, not their last.
